more and more often environmental conditions are becoming a much debated issue about
contemporary metropolises. Cities are suffering from an innate difficulty to loose or recycle the heat
that they generate; while their “metabolism” is very intense, their envelopes are not able to exchange
with the atmosphere at a sufficient rate. If this has led many to predict future catastrophic scenarios,
our workshop will instead concentrate on the potential effects produced by a direct engagement with
this intense dynamic process; the speculation will take the form of new architectonical prototypes able
to engage with the atmosphere by interfering with processes involving heat exchange and to
stimulate, as a result, the emergence of novel microclimatic effects.

ecoLogicStudio at the IAAC

“Aqva Garden” is an artificial garden that functions as a distributed rain collector and as a water storage system. Unlike conventional recycling system AG doesn’t hide its functional apparatus; rather it embodies it in its structured matrix, the branching system. Moreover AG operates by expanding the climatic effects latent within the management of water and its transitional state (e.g. evaporation). Rain water becomes the protagonist of the perceptual games and of gardening processes, opening now potentials in the conception of ecologic infrastructures for the built environment.

The New Public Library of Cirie' (Turin) will be hosted in a big open plan room, full of natural light coming from the roof sheds and enclosed by large metal windows with view over the Alps. Natural light, degree of sociability and accessibility became the fields of forces influencing the proliferation of a prototypical element integrating shelves, tables, roff screens and seats. The general layout emerged from a set of local negotiations and from the recognition of main access trajectories within the field. the process allowed the dissolution of the traditional rigid configuration of teh library and the incorporation of local stimuli and performative requirements; the effect is a great variety of differentiated environments, generated within the same organizational and technological matrix. The wood of culture represents the attempt to generate a performative scheme where functionality has been exploited as condition to produce variation to meet a multiplicity of local and personal requirements. Like a wood the library will require exploration, recognition and in return will offer an intimate engagement with its dynamic context.

 today i was at graduation of eLS inters from Turin polytechnic it has been an interesting experience to go back to my old university
